Snowbee XS Large Arbor Fly Reels |
|
In addition to the current range which extends from the #560 small Stillwater reel, right up to the class leading #1112 Salmon & Saltwater model, 2007 sees the introduction of the long awaited #340. This sweet little river reel will appeal especially to the small river and dry fly specialist. Even though it is the new baby in the range, it still incorporates the same drag system as its bigger brothers, and still packs enough punch to tame the odd 3lb Brownie or Grayling that might come along. The design brief was for a state of the art, Large Arbor Fly Reel, which addressed some of the limitations of similar reels, in terms of line capacity and drag performance. The XS has proved that it can be taken 'frontier fishing' in the harshest saltwater environments with confidence, supported by numerous World-wide catch reports, from Bonefish in the heat of the Florida Keys, to King Salmon in the ice melt conditions of Alaska. Capable of a total strip down in the field, with a Leatherman type tool, the simplicity of design of the XS sets it apart from its peers. The XS is a reel of classic elegance, generous line and backing capacity and a drag system combining traditional design features, with hi-tech materials and manufacture. The Centre Disc Drag system, eclipses anything on the market. It incorporates three polished Stainless Steel Drag discs, with "Broflon" Drag washers sandwiched between. This state of the art substance is a Bronze and Teflon composite material, combining an ultra low coefficient of friction with superb wear characteristics and resistance to the kind of temperatures that would destroy most cork or PTFE Drag systems. The use of free moving drag washers, rather than the usual laminated Drag discs, creates 4 bearing surfaces, doubling the drag surface area to a class leading 22.6cm². The result is almost zero start-up inertia and a silky smooth drag, finely adjustable from zero to "Tarpon stopping", by means of the detented drag control, on the rear face. Machined from solid Bar Stock Aerospace grade Aluminium, with all stainless steel internal parts, these reels are built to last and are equally at home in Saltwater, or on the local reservoir. |
