Wapsi Natural Fur Dubbing Packets bring together a traditional range of natural dubbing materials that many fly tyers continue to rely on for their consistency and behaviour in the water. Supplied as individual fur types, these packets allow you to select the exact texture and effect required for each pattern.

Used across nymphs, dry flies and wets, this natural fur dubbing offers clear advantages in movement, subtle colour variation and how it sits in the water. Whether tying sparse dry fly bodies or building more buggy nymph profiles, choosing the right fur makes a noticeable difference.

Natural fur dubbing for fly tying

Wapsi Natural Fur Dubbing Packets, distributed in the UK by Veniard, are made from 100% natural fur with no synthetic blending. Each packet contains a specific fur type such as hare, muskrat, squirrel or beaver, allowing fly tyers to work with materials that behave differently depending on the pattern being tied.

Finer furs such as beaver, muskrat and mink dub tightly and are often chosen where a cleaner, more controlled body is needed. These materials are also known for their slightly water-resistant properties, making them well suited to dry flies and emergers.

Coarser furs including hare, squirrel and coyote introduce more texture and irregular fibres, helping create movement and a more natural appearance in the water.

At Troutcatchers, these fly tying dubbing materials remain a staple for anglers tying everything from traditional river patterns through to modern nymphs. The ability to choose individual fur types gives far greater control than pre-blended dubbings.
